WHISTLE
#044: IAN Once
commonly found in nature, the multistriped whale
was hunted to extinction by decorators in the 1970s
who used its skin for various domestic interiors.
Sadly, government-sanctioned conservation efforts
were unable to save this timid, beautiful creature
from its fad-inspired fate. It did not help matters
that this species was also quite tasty. The
somewhat startled expression on this specimen may
indicate the alert and wary state in which most of
these individuals may have lived their entire
lives. The full impact of its contribution on
western cuisine and design culture cannot be
overstated.
Artist's
comment:
This was a fun, if time-consuming, paint job. This opens up
the possibility for all manner of non-animal patterns. Watch
your back, Herend!
